Sound Massage Table Retrofit Kit — 3 Transducers

Professional Vibroacoustic Therapy

Full-Table Coverage for Your Existing Massage Table

The Direct Path to VAT

If you already have a quality massage table and want to add vibroacoustic therapy to your practice, this is the most direct path I know of. I have been building sound tables since 1999, and retrofitting them for practitioners since 2008. This kit contains everything you need: the same transducers we use in every InnerSoul table we build.

InnerSoulutions • Building Vibroacoustic Tables Since 1999

Why the Transducers Matter

Not all vibroacoustic transducers are the same, and the difference is something your clients will feel immediately.

The cheap bass shakers used in most low-cost kits were originally designed as gaming and home theater accessories. They shake. They run hot under continuous use. The plastic components break down over time, especially under the demands of a professional practice running sessions all day. The industry divides these devices into two groups: broadband transducers built to reproduce music across the range, and narrow-band devices built for the low-frequency thud of special effects. The inexpensive kits use the second kind. That distinction is the whole story of why one table feels musical and another feels like a rumble.

The Ibeam VT200 transducers in this kit are a different animal entirely. All-metal construction. 100W RMS, 250W peak. A frequency range of 20–800 Hz, wide enough that your clients feel not just deep bass rumble, but the full spectrum of the music: the warmth of a cello, the resonance of a singing bowl, the mid-range tones of a piano. The brain interprets the stimulus as sound, not shaking. That is the difference between a client who has to concentrate to feel anything, and a client who cannot believe what they are feeling at low volume.

What the Measurements Show

Sonic Immersion, who manufacture the I-BEAM, published force-versus-frequency comparisons against other broadband transducers, measured from 20 to 500 Hz. The I-BEAM produced 0.39 pounds of force per watt per Hz. The devices it was compared against produced between 0.18 and 0.22. Summed across the range, that came to 41 percent and 52 percent more total energy than the two nearest comparisons, with roughly 6 dB more output above the tuning frequency.

What that means on the table is simple: you do not have to turn it up for your client to feel it. More force per watt means the vibration arrives fully at comfortable, settled listening levels. That matters more than it might sound, because in vibroacoustic work louder is not better. The vibration is received through bone, tissue, and fluid whether or not it registers as intense. A transducer that delivers cleanly at low volume is doing the work you actually want done.

I have been using these transducers since 2007. I have not found anything better. — Stephen Deuel

Three Transducers — Full-Table Vibroacoustic Coverage

The 3-transducer kit places coverage across the full length of your table, with positioning for head and upper body, torso, and legs. Two Fosi ZA3 amplifiers drive the system: one powering two transducers, the other driving the third. For practitioners who want the most complete full-body vibroacoustic experience from their existing table, this is the configuration.

A Note from a Practitioner

“These transducers are much stronger than the sound table I purchased a year ago from a different vendor. With this retrofit kit's transducers a little vibration goes a long way, and it feels stronger. Prior to purchasing this kit, I was feeling uncomfortable charging clients for the VAT experience because the client would really have to concentrate in order to feel any vibration. Now I can definitely charge clients and feel like they are getting their money’s worth. I even have to make sure to tell each client that we will start with the lower volume of vibration and take it from there.”

The Mounting System

Each kit includes custom-fabricated mounting plates, hardware, and complete fitting and wiring instructions. The installation is solid and permanent, built to hold up under professional daily use, not just occasional home sessions.

Will This Work on My Table?

Most quality massage tables will take a retrofit kit. A few things make the difference between a table that performs well and one that will always feel like a compromise, and they are worth knowing before you order.

A solid surface to mount to

The transducers fasten to the panel that supports the foam, not to the frame or the legs. That panel needs to be solid and continuous. Almost every quality table is built this way, but it is the one requirement that cannot be worked around, so it is worth turning your table over and having a look.

One-piece tops carry sound better than folding tops

On a folding table, the top is two separate halves joined in the middle. Each half carries vibration on its own, and the break between them stops the field from traveling across the table as a single surface. It works well, and it is the right trade when you carry your table to clients. But if your table stays in one room, a stationary table with a continuous top will give you a more complete experience from the same kit, which is why we build our own InnerSoul Stationary Sound Massage Table that way.

Stationary and lift tables: keep the centerline clear

The transducers mount along the centerline of the table, so that run needs to be open underneath. This is worth checking carefully on electric lift tables. Some designs place two actuators directly on the centerline, and those occupy exactly the space the transducers need. It is the one thing that can rule out an otherwise excellent stationary table, and it is not something you would think to look for. Turn the table over, or look closely at the manufacturer's photographs of the underside, before you buy.

Portable tables: closing up after installation

A portable table will take the kit, but it will often no longer close up afterward without some rearranging. The transducers stand a little under two and a half inches off the deck once mounted, and on many folding tables the endplates come to rest in that same space. Endplates vary quite a bit in size from one table to the next. On some there is room to work with. On others they will need to be repositioned, or made smaller. It is manageable, but plan for it rather than discover it.

Wood over metal, fixed legs over removable

Once you are running sustained low frequencies through a table, every metal-to-metal contact point becomes a place where buzz and rattle can begin. Removable legs seating into metal fittings are the most common culprit, because a connection built to come apart has some play in it by design. Fixed legs give you fewer places for that to start.

I also find that wood interacts with sound more warmly than metal does. Wood absorbs and softens. Metal tends to ring and hold onto things. That is preference rather than measurement, but it is why we build our own bases in wood.

Wider is better

The arms and hands pick up vibration very well. When the table is wide enough that they rest fully on the surface instead of hanging over the edges, the person on the table gets noticeably more from the session. Less expensive tables are often only 28 inches across. Thirty inches or more is better. We build ours at 33.5 inches, which will tell you how much stock I put in this.

Length is really a question of who you work with. Seventy-five inches suits most people, though if you see taller clients you may want a little more room.

VAT Frequencies & Music

The 7 tracks included with your kit are not generic meditation music. They are purpose-developed vibroacoustic frequency compositions and VAT music built from research and clinical use going back to 1999: the same library used by therapists, wellness centers, and practitioners around the world.

You choose any 7 from our complete catalog of 59 tracks. Browse the full list here to select the tracks that best fit your practice or personal use, or see the VAT Practitioner Reference for what each track was designed to address.

Individual tracks are available at $29.95 each. Buy any 3 and get the 4th free.
The complete 59-track library is also available. See options below.

Optional: Mixer Audio Package

For practitioners who want to run VAT frequencies through the table while simultaneously playing music or guided meditation through headphones, the Mixer Package gives you that capability.

Includes: FiiO JM21 High-Resolution Audio Player, Numark M2 Two-Channel Mixer, Shure SRH840A Studio Headphones, patch cords, and your choice of 15 VAT Frequency or Vibroacoustic Music tracks.

The Numark M2 gives you two independent stereo channels: VAT frequencies playing through the table on one, music or guided meditation through the headphones on the other. Each channel has its own volume control, so you can dial in exactly the right balance of felt vibration and heard sound for each client and session.

Mixer Audio Package: add $800
Mixer Audio Package + All 59 Tracks: add $1,050

The mixer sits between your sound source and the amplifiers rather than inside the system itself, so it can be added later without limiting anything the kit does.

Built for Professionals

This kit is designed for massage therapists, sound healers, energy practitioners, and wellness centers who want to add a serious VAT capability to their existing setup. Not a hobbyist experiment, but a professional tool that will perform reliably session after session.

5 Star for Massage Table Retrofit Kit - 3 transducers

Posted by Julie Campbell on 24th Apr 2025

Stephen was very helpful with my pre-order questions and even returned my email on a Sunday - that was above and beyond! When I got the retrofit kit, I did need help from my husband to outfit my massage table, but the directions were clear and concise. I tried it out with the VAT frequency "Tranquility" and found myself going to that in-between state of mind - it was lovely! These transducers are much stronger than the sound table I purchased a year ago (from a different vendor). With this retrofit kit's transducers a little vibration goes a long way, and it feels stronger. Prior to purchasing this kit, I was feeling uncomfortable charging clients for the VAT experience because the client would really have to concentrate in order to feel any vibration. The CNS effect was there, but having to really concentrate to feel anything (for every client) made me feel guilty taking their money. Now I can definitely charge clients and feel like they are getting their money's worth. I even have to make sure to tell each client that we will start with the lower volume of vibration and take it from there. A client who has used my original table tried out the new one today. I used the piriformis track and looped it for a 23 minute experience before her massage. She noticed an easier slide into that "relaxed state" with this new table, and noticed that not only did her glutes feel less painful and tensed, but her whole body did. It helped her enjoy the massage much more. Thank you InnerSoullutions for a fantastic product and even more fantastic customer service! * I did keep my original sound table from a year ago, but now I have it for personal use at home. I am jealous of my clients' InnerSoullutions experience in my office :-) *
